List of components

The following is a list of components of the Matchmaking Device System. Some components are essential for all Matchmaking Device Systems, and are intended for all applications. Others are optional, or specific to certain applications. The form, structure, and functionality of some components change with their indented type of application.

A computer is necessary for the functioning of the system, but it is not provided with the Matchmaking Device System.

  • The Matchmaking Device’s Charger
  • The Communication Port
  • The Matchmaking Device Locator (optional)
  • The Antitheft Device (optional)
Computer
A computer is necessary for the functioning of the Matchmaking Device System, but it is not part of it (a computer is not provided with the Matchmaking Device System). The computer is used to profile each user, to calculate the matching probability, and to upload this information in the MD’s electronic device. In one possible realization of the Matchmaking Device System the users can also fill out their profile over the Internet.

Matchmaking Device software
The software contains four main components: the Profiler, the Matchmaking Calculator, the Driver, and a Toolkit for creating and printing advertising projects (fliers, cards, banners, etc). Software is also needed for the MD Locator.

The Profiler is a questionnaire used to profile the user. Any type of questionnaires can be adapted for the Matchmaking Device System. The accuracy of the MD in determining the matching probability depends on the type of questionnaire used for a specific application. The MD is as smart and as accurate as the Profiler used. Companies in the Dating Industry have by now tested and identified profilers that give good results in matching individuals with respect to their dating interests. Similar profilers, or better ones, can be used for the Matchmaking Device System. The Matchmaking Calculator processes the matching probability between the user’s profile and all the other profiles according to a predefined set of criteria. This information is then charged into the MD’s electronic device via a Driver. A Toolkit for creating and printing advertising projects (fliers, cards, banners, etc) can be included with the software.

The MD Locator is an electronic device that picks-up signals emitted by MDs, registers their profile number, and keeps a list of detected profiles. This list is updated regularly. The MD Locator also has a display screen, and a control panel that enables users to interrogate the MD Locator about the presence of MDs in vicinity. The MD Locator’s output can be customized to the profile of the user interrogating it. For example, it can display the number of MDs within its range, and a histogram of detected profiles with respect to the matching probability. See the section on the MD Locator for more information. The nature of the components discussed above depends on the type of MD, and on the MD’s application type.

The Communication Port
The Matchmaking Device must be able to exchange information with a computer. In one possible realization of the Matchmaking Device System, the MD’s short-range wireless communication module can be used to exchange signals with the computer. In this case, a separate Communication Port device is needed to ensure the signal exchange. The Driver, part of the software package, drives the
Communication Port.
In another possible realization the signal exchange between the MD and the computer is accomplished directly via a computer port (USB port for example). The Driver, part of the software package, makes the communication possible.
